Q: Where can I buy a Practice chanter and Tutor Book?
A: Please click on the picture of the practice chanter and book at the beginning of this page. It will take you to our prefered supplier's webpage, where you will be able to purchace the materials needed to start your journey.
Q: Do I have to buy the one you recommend?
A: No. Feel free to explore your options. We do however, recomend that you stick with a reputable dealer of fine quality instruments. In other words don't waste your time or money on an inexpensive, poorly made chanter, they are impossible to keep in tune and will hinder your ability to play correctly.
Q: When do I get to play the Bagpipe?
A: That depends. There are many elements involved in the playing of the Great Highland Bagpipe. Most students begin with learning (and becoming proficient in) fingering techniques, and embellishments, and other nuances of playing through the use of a practice chanter. Once these skills are learned moving onto the Great Highland Bagpipe becomes less difficult. Keep in mind I did not say easy. Most students will transition to the bagpipe within 6 months to 1 year assuming that they are putting in the required practice time each day.
